It is an authentic OEM part which is specially designed for Char-Broil grills. The electrode provides a spark that arcs to the main burner to ignite the gas. If the burner won't light, first clean the electrode and check that it's aligned. If the problem persists, replace the igniter electrode. This item will provide an identical replacement for the original part that was installed on a new unit. Refer to the diagrams of your model for the correct installation of this component. Note, one durable ceramic electrode with an attached wire is included. Replacing it is a simple task that only requires a screwdriver.

Dismantled part by part that had all but disintegrated. Then spent 45 minutes figuring out how to install. A sketch or installation hint would have saved 30 minutes. After that it was a snap to put back. Next time I would skip the electrode starters.

Grill is 12 years old, so I opted to replace the starter module, switch, and the igniters on all three main burners. The only challenging part was replacing the new igniters. The "brackets" had to be widened in order to get them onto the burners. Then it became necessary to use pliers to tighten them into position. Although I got them in place and the grill works like new, the new igniters fit loosely on the burners, they are not immovable as were the originals.
