Clutch assembly became inoperable

Alvin - October 9, 2016
👍 0 of 1 people found this instruction helpful
Tool Type

Chain Saw

Difficulty

Easy

Time

30-60 minutes

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set, Allen wrench, hammer, chisel

1. Removed old clutch, sprocket, and bearing assembly.
2. Thoroughly cleaned the engine unit.
3. Installed the new thrush washer, bearing, sprocket drum, and clutch.
4. Reassembled the housing pieces, bar, and chain.
5. Started and tested assembly.

(Note...To remove the clutch...1) Remove spark plug and bring the piston up to TDC. 2) Feed a length of rope into the cylinder through the spark plug hole. This will allow you to apply necessary force to the clutch to back it off without the crankshaft moving. 3) Using a hammer and small chisel, tap the clutch in order to get it started off...left hand threads so to loosen you must turn clockwise. 4) Use the rope trick when installing the new clutch as well.)
