The unusual story is sears sent two different "replacement" parts for the original broken piece. One was too wide and the other had the blade guard on the wrong side. Sears claimed the original part is no longer available. I found the exact replacement part needed at eReplacementParts. bought it, installed it and tested it out. works as good as new if not better. 2. removed the spring load for tilting,
3. remove the bolt at the end of the Drive Shaft Assembly.
4. remove the Drive Shaft Assembly,
5. Install the new Drive Shaft Assembly, just like you had removed it old

Took it to the bench and removed the blade and guard along with the angle selector.
Once completed the spring slid out.
To install the new shaft I did have to use a wire wheel and remove the powder coating, as the
shaft would not allow the angle selector to slide on easily.
Once that was assembled, just had to reattach to the edger.
Worked perfectly!
My old quill assy was cracked.
