Product Description

?

This is a manufacturer-sourced replacement carbon brush set designed for use with Dremel high-performance rotary tools. The set includes two carbon brushes and two metal springs, essential components that help maintain optimal motor performance. Carbon brushes are wear items that naturally degrade over time due to friction, and replacing them is a common and necessary part of tool maintenance. This OEM-quality set ensures a precise fit and reliable operation. Installation is straightforward and requires only a hex key (Allen wrench). To replace the brushes, simply remove the screws holding the tool housing together, separate the two halves, and remove the brush covers. Then, take out the old brushes and springs, install the new brush assemblies, reassemble the housing, and test your tool. Regular replacement of worn brushes helps extend the life of your rotary tool and keeps it running smoothly.

Took brush out of one side and it was good. Did the other side and brush wouldn\'t come out. So I took apart and found that the brush holder had melted to the point the brush didn\'t make contact. So got online and ordered brush holder and brushes. Put it back together. Fired right up. So I now know I can\'t run for long periods of time. Good luck.

Recommendation: Both brushes should be replaced at same time if one has worn out.

Open up the bush cap with a small flat head screw driver or if you still have an old Dremel the screw head end of the key. (On my model no chuck key is needed and I lost the chuck key for my older model, so small flat head screwdriver was used.)

Pull the old spring and brush out.
note: If the brush comes off the spring and is too small to stay in place and slide out use small flat head screwdriver to maneuver part into position as you flip the Dremel over to get it to fall out. Several tries may be required.

Blow out any remaining debris.

Caution: the brush is made from a soft material and too strong of filing will wear away more than needed shortening the life of the brush.

File a groove in the end of new brush, if possible a rounded off groove. The groove should be in line with the longer direction of the brush.
note: the groove need not be more than 3/4 of the width of the brush and best would be if it matches the curve of the motor part it will be lining up with inside the Dremel.
note2: You may get lucky and not need to file a groove into the brush, so you may wish to try it first without filing it down a bit.

Clean any debris from filing off the brush by using air or gently wiping with a cloth/paper towel.

Place the new brush and spring into the cavity, brush side down; groove aligned with the motor part (the long side should be parallel with the length of the Dremel)

Replace the cap.

The Dremel should be again ready to use.

If the Dremel fails to work or starts and stops, pull the brush and spring out and file a tiny bit more form the brush to make it more closely match the necessary curve.
Note: If you have to file more than 1/32nd of an inch deep curve your Dremel may have other problems.
