The ball bearing is constructed of metal, and is compatible with several spinning reel fishing devices. The bearing is fitted between the pinion gear and the drag programmer b1. This part has been designed to reduce friction with the use of metal rollers and a surface for them to rotate against. These balls or rollers "bear" the load, allowing the device to spin smoothly. This part is sold individually. A screwdriver is often needed to make the necessary replacement.
