The switch died

Removed the handle, removed the wires and one screw holding old switch. Studied the new wiring diagram. Switched wires to replicate the diagram on the new wiring sheet. Tightened the wiring screws and reinstalled switch. Screw the handle plugged it in and used it. What took the most time was finding a small enough metal object to insert into old switch to get the wires out with out cutting and this shortening them.

Power cord was old & cracked and the switch no longer worked.

Time

Less than 15 minutes

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Wire stripper & crimper.

Remove the three screws that go through the side of the handle and two screws that attach the removable side of the handle to the motor housing. Separate the handle. Cut the wires from the motor and power cord close to the switch leaving as much wire to work with as possible. Remove the screw holding the switch to the grinder housing and remove the switch. Strip about 3/8 inch of the insulation from the end of the motor wires and with the screws provided, attach to the lugs on the switch labeled "Field" (per instructions included with the new switch) and similarly attach the power cord wires to the "Cord Lead" lugs on the switch. Secure the new switch into the housing replacing its screw. Tuck the wires into the appropriate cavities and reattach the handle.
