Need help finding your model number?Product Description
?This is a genuine Hitachi replacement part,it is sold individually. Switches are commonly replaced parts in power tools. A switch handles on/off and variable speed functions. They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity. Because switches use mechanical internals, they will degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement. Some common signs of a broken or failing switch are: • The tool has completely stopped functioning - it will not turn on. • The tool operates intermittently, requiring multiple tries to turn on, until eventually it won't turn on at all. • The variable speed function and electric braking aren't working properly. Hello Mark, thank you for your question. The brake works by reversing the flow of electricity in the motor when you release the trigger. Over time, the brake can lose its effectiveness as a result of a dirty commutator, a failing Armature Assembly 360072C, or a bad Switch 998839. Good luck with this repair.
Hi William, Thank you for your question. If the brake is no longer working, you may have a set of worn carbon brushes. If they have worn too short or if they are not seated properly, they will not make contact with the commutator found on the armature. The brushes are the first things to check. If the brushes are fine, then you will need to check the commutator, the armature, and the switch. We hope this helps with the repair!
