First of all the switch was not an exact replacement. Probably was a ônewö improved version. The original switch had two connections labeled M1 (red wire) and M2 (black wire). The new switch had connections labeled M2 and M1, just the opposite of the original one. I soldered the connections on the new switch the same as the original. When I went to put the switch in place it would not fit. The red wire was longer than the black wire and the new switch would not reach to the place where it needed to be. The only solution was to unsolder the wires and install them in the opposite order. This allows the wires to reach the switch but now what used to be forward is now reverse. It is not a major problem, I just have to get used to forward and reverse being opposite to what it was before. A short instruction note about the terminals being opposite would have made the install very easy but I ended up taking over an hour to do a 15 minute job. All the while I was unsoldering the terminals I was worried about getting the switch too hot and ruining it. Once that was done all the wires needed to be put back exactly where they were before or you cannot screw on the side handle. It was a lesson in patience to say the least.

The the screws out and split the cases. Then pull the switch out and solder the leads off. Solder the leads to the new switch and put back together.
