All I can say is to be certain to take the time to use any clamps you have on your saw to secure it firmly. The looseness of my piece is what caused the kickback. The spinning blade connecting with the wood that was probably only 1/4" away from the fence caused the wood to be sent right to the fence at high speed, then I suspect it bounced back at a higher level, then was caught by the blade again and propelled again into the fence. I was doing repetitive cuts, quite boring, and thought the cuts not demanding and the wood heavy enough so that I didn't bother to clamp the wood, but I was proved wrong.
