One common reason these types of compressor will not shut off is because of blow by. This is when the piston and the cylinder are worn to the point to where the air that is supposed to be being compressed, is leaking past the piston and the cylinder. You would have to inspect them both to see if there is any wear. If there is you would need the 17968 Piston /Cylinder Assembly (Main Bearing Not Included. Use a 6203.. It also wouldn't hurt to install the 17983 Valve Plate Kit.
The screw on the 17988 Fan Kit, is a left hand screw, so to remove it turn it clockwise.
Well most likely the teflon piston ring has broken.Remove the cylinder head and look at the piston and cylinder. If they look good I'd look at the reed valve assembly.Hope that helps.Good luck.
Hope this helps,
My compressor can't hit 100psi anymore.
It seems to slowly be getting worse.
There are no leaks, and most of the guages are bypassed including the output regulator.
Any ideas on what it could be?
If you take the motor to an electric motor repair shop. They should be able to pull the bearing from the shaft and replace it with a new one. The manufacture does not supply this bearing.
I checked with the manufacture and the fan kit, part number 17988 is available and in stock the factory. Thank you for bringing that to our attention.
