Pruner Parts: Leaks bar oil

Caps
The cap seals the bar oil inside the tank to prevent leaks and stop debris from getting into the tank. If this cap is leaking, it will need replacement. Sometimes you will be able to avoid replacing the cap by simply replacing the O-ring inside. To do this you should remove it with a small screwdriver and replace it with one of the same size.
Fitting
The fitting on the oil tank allows the tube from the tank to travel outside the tank to the oiler. If this fitting is leaking, you will need to replace it. To complete this repair, start by draining the oil from the tank, then remove the locking nut and unscrew the knob locking it to the lower drive shaft. Next, press the alignment pin in to release the drive shaft, then remove the shaft. Now you can remove the nut holding the cover in place, and remove the oil tank screws and tank. Next, use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the fitting from the tank, and use pliers to remove the oil feed tube from the fitting. Then, you can install a new fitting and a new oil filter and tube. Re-install the tank and tighten the cover back down, then re-install onto the lower drive shaft by lining up the alignment pin and tightening down the handle and locking nut. ... Read more
