Food Processor: Controls or Buttons Don't Work Right
If the buttons aren't working right on your food processor, this can be frustrating. Read our guide for tips on what to check for if this problem is occurring. It might be something as simple as aligning the lid properly. If you require specific advice for your model, refer to your owner's manual.
Lids
If the lid on your food processor is not aligned properly, the buttons may not allow the unit to turn on because the safety switch has been engaged.
Covers
If the cover tab on your food processor is not aligned with the bowl rod, the buttons may not respond to your commands. To check if this is the issue, make sure the bowl, lid, pusher, and cover are properly aligned.
Bowls
Your food processor has a safety switch in place which won’t allow the unit to power on if all the parts are not correctly aligned. This may seem like the food processor is not working because the buttons are not responding to your commands. The parts that must be aligned are the bowl, lid, pusher, and covers. The bowl has a rod in the handle or through the outside. The lid, pusher, and the covers all have tabs that will engage the rod in the bowl. When these parts are correctly assembled, they will engage a safety switch. If any one of them are broken, then they won't engage the safety switch. ... Read more
Pushers
The food pusher on your food processor helps to feed the food down into the bowl. If this part is not aligned correctly with the bowl, the safety switch will be engaged and the unit will not respond to button commands.
