Blender: Excessive Sparks From the Motor
If your motor has excessive sparks coming from the motor, this can be alarming, but this is a common symptom that you can easily fix yourself. In most cases, the problem will be due to a damaged base or jar assembly. Check out our tips below for how you can determine which part you'll need to fix, and how you can do this as quickly as possible. Reference your owner's manual for specific advice for your model.
Bases
Blender bases, also known as collars, seats, or container base can cause the motor to spark if they are cracked and leaking. The base can easily be replaced by unscrewing it from the jar. Pop out the blade assembly and seal, saving those parts, and install them into the new base. Screw back onto the base of the jar. Make sure your blender is unplugged before beginning this repair.
Jar
If you are experiencing sparks from your blender motor, the issue could be the jar assembly. Some blender models have a jar assembly that comes complete with a blade assembly, rather than the two parts being separate. An issue with the blades can lead to sparks from the motor. If the blades don’t turn freely or the bearings/bushings in the blade assembly become seized from liquid and food seeping into it, the motor will work harder than it should causing it to overheat and spark. This can also occur if the blades are simply dull. Replace the entire jar assembly if you have a model with the jar and blade assembly attached. ... Read more
