Cultivator: One Tine or One Side Doesn't Rotate

Pins
Your cultivator’s tines are attached to the tine shaft by a shear pin. If you notice that one tine is not rotating properly, you should first check to see if the shear pin is still intact. These pins can potentially come loose and fall off during regular operation of the cultivator. If you discover that the shear pin is broken or missing, you can simply replace it, and the symptom should be resolved.

Shafts
Depending upon the design or model of your cultivator, a broken tine shaft can cause one or more of the tines to stop rotating properly. When it is in proper working condition, most tine drive shafts will rotate all the tines simultaneously. However, if your model or design allows for some of the tines to rotate, even if the other isn’t, you may need to replace the tine drive shaft.
