How to Replace the Grip on a Black and Decker Workmate

Finish Nailer Repair - Replacing the Driver Guide (Ridgid Part # 79004001022)

Black and Decker Workmate Grip

The grips are used to secure workpieces on top of the vise jaws. The grip fits into the holes in the jaws. They can be rotated to hold odd-shaped pieces. Over time, the plastic grip can become brittle. The lock tabs might break off, or the shaft itself might shear. You can purchase additional grips for more clamping solutions. Or maybe you have simply lost the original grips for your Workmate.

Let's get started.

REMOVING THE GRIP(S)

1. Remove the grip(s).

a. Pull the grip(s) up and out of the mounting holes in the vise jaws. (The locking tabs should disengage automatically.)

INSTALLING THE NEW GRIP(S)

2. Install the grip(s).

a. Install the new grip(s) into the mounting holes on the vise jaws.

b. Press firmly on each grip to engage the locking tabs.
