How to Install the Canister Filter Kit on a Jet Dust Collector
Finish Nailer Repair - Replacing the Driver Guide (Ridgid Part # 79004001022)

The canister filter kit allows you to upgrade your cloth filter bag to the canister style. The canister filter removes particles down to two microns in size, and has more surface area for better air flow (due to the pleated design). The kit includes the canister filter, the handle (to rotate the filter-cleaning fins), a new lower bag retainer, five disposable lower bags, and the hardware needed to install the canister.
Let's get started.

a. Release the clamp securing the metal retaining strap to the upper cloth bag.
b. Remove the upper collection bag from the dust collector.

INSTALLING THE NEW CANISTER FILTER KIT
3. Assemble the new canister.

b. Remove the handle from the inside of the new canister.

e. Install the handle.

5. Install the (lower) plastic collection bag.
a. Place the new retainer over the open end of one of the new plastic collection bags.
b. Pull approximately three inches of the new plastic bag through the retainer and fold the plastic bag back onto itself (entrapping the retainer within).
c. Align the top portion of the plastic collection bag (containing the retainer) with the inside flange on the bottom of the drum.
d. Starting at the back of the drum, seat the retainer into the flange.
e. Continue seating the retainer into the flange until only a small portion of the retainer is visible at the front of the drum.
f. Press the exposed portion of the retainer toward the center of the drum.
g. Align the retainer (vertically) with the inner flange on the drum.
h. Carefully release the retainer to secure the new plastic bag in place. (Be careful to avoid getting your fingers caught between the retainer and the drum.)
