Food Processor: Trips the Power Source Circuit Breaker

If your food processor trips the power source circuit breaker, check the blade and motor for signs of damage. Read on for instructions on how you can repair the appropriate part yourself as quickly and easily as possible. Refer to your owner's manual for detailed instructions for your model.

Blades
Blades
If the blades or disks become dull they have the potential of jamming up and causing the motor to get hot, tripping the breaker. To avoid this issue, replace the blades or attachments which have become dull. Take this opportunity to check that no pieces have broken off and remain in the food processor bowl.

Motors
Motors
If the motor in your food processor is faulty, it can cause the circuit breaker to trip. To replace the motor, first unplug the unit and remove the bowl. Remove the rubber screw covers and use a screwdriver to take out the screws. Pull off the shaft assembly, and the gear assembly in that order. Next, remove the screws and rubber caps from the base, which will expose the motor cover. There will be several screws holding the motor cover in place, remove those and pull out the motor. It will still be attached to the unit by wires; check your manual to see which wires are which in your model. You will need to cut the power cord wire to the motor at the connection, and as many as four wires that connect the switch to the motor. Strip the cut wires and use new connectors to attach them...
