Food Processor: Burnt or Electrical Smell From Motor

Blades
When your food processor blade is dull it can cause the motor to work harder than it should, resulting in a burning or electrical smell. To replace the blades, unplug the processor and remove the lid. Lift out the bowl scraping device, and the blade assembly. Replace the blade assembly, and make sure there are no broken off parts in the bowl before reassembling.

Gears
The food processor gears can become worn out and break causing the motor to jam. To replace the gears, first unplug the unit and remove the bowl from the base. Use a spudger to remove screw covers, and a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the base cover in place. Pull off the cover to gain access to the gears. Pull out the gear assembly by the plastic center piece, and replace with new gears.
