    MM275
July 18,2019 Purchased mower April 2010 and it stopped completely (1st problem). Ordered switch, rectifier & brushes with one day delivery. Installed brushes and it ran with intermittent very loud noise. Replaced rectifier and ran normally. This is my second B&D, first was MM525. Very happy cutting my 1000 sq. ft. of grass with an electric. Thanks for quick turn around. Richard, Palm Harbor, FL Richard, Palm Harbor, FL.

Lawn mower stopped working altogether - as if the motor had burned out. I discovered that the carbon brushes were worn to the point of not making good contact with the commutator.

I removed the old brushes and rectifier, then installed the replacement rectifier using a silicone grease. I connected the new brushes using a crimping tool and new wire crimps, then re-assembled the mower. With $30 worth of repair parts, the mower has since been working like new, which saved us from having to buy a new mower.

Repairs were completed on a Black and Decker Lawn Hog electric lawnmower. Excellent trouble shooting techniques can be found for many makes and models of electric lawnmowers on You Tube. After replacing the rectifier, and performing some maintenance, the mower worked great and continues to do so. I can't say enough good things about eReplacement Parts. Pricing was good and the part arrived at the specified time. There are a few important things to consider when repairing any electric lawnmower: When installing the rectifier, make sure the heat sink the rectifier sits on is clean and has a thin film of heat transfer paste applied. The paste in not provided with the part. I wound up buying the paste at Best Buy. The other consideration is the motor brushes. Most motors are rugged and not prone to failure. However, brushes may get stuck in the brush holder resulting in excessive arcing. After replacing the rectifier, it's a good idea to run the mower prior to reassembling the cowlings and covers. Observe the brush assemblies. If there is arcing, disassemble the brush holders and make sure the brushes are free to move back and forth. Poorly contacting brushes will make the motor run slower, brush holders to heat up, and shorten the life of the rectifier.

Switched out the part in the handle first.
Switched out the burned out brushes next. Didn't have crimper so used wire nuts instead.
    Switched out the diode next.
    All done!

Plugged it in and it ran just fine. Sparks when it shuts off though from the new brushes.
