Product Description ?

This is a genuine Craftsman part for use with Lawn Tractors. The mandrel pulley spins the blade on the mower deck of the tractor. The most common reason for replacing the spindle pulley is when it is stripped, causing the belt to snap and the blades not to move. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the mandrel pulley is a 7/8 inch socket and an impact driver.

    Socket set, wd-40, torch and 1/2 drive breaker bar

    Used wd-40 to penetrate the nut holding the pulley on. Had to use a torch to heat up the nut then applied wd-40 again while it was hot wait 10 minutes. and used a breaker bar to loosen the nut.
    Once nut broke loose it was easy to remove the old pulley and replace with the new one from ereplacementparts.
    Ordering of and delivery of my part was very quick and efficient. The parts diagram was extremely helpful in ensuring I was ordering the correct part!

    Broken deck pulley

    , Breaker bar 15/16 socket

    Remove safety cover from pulley
    Insert large screw driver thru opening below pulley
    Place socket wt breaker bar on nut a top of pulley
    The nuts are really tight a hammering will help wt loosening
    Remove broken pulley. Place new pulley on stud making
    sure to line up wt splines at bottom.
    Replace nut tightening really well. DONE
    Note large screw driver will keep blade from turning
    giving leverage on retaining nut.

    Removed cover. Removed nut holding pulley on. Removed belt off pulley then pulley from shaft. Installed belt on pulley, pulley on shaft, nut on shaft, tightened nut then installed cover.

    Pull broke at bolt head

    Socket set, 2x4 block blade movement and Impact Wrench

    1. Placed front of mower on stands.
    2. Removed Belt and Deck from mower.
    3. Slid Deck from under mower
    4. Removed Pulley Cover.
    5. Placed wood between blade an deck to secure blade.
    6. Removed Bolt and jagged metal from old pulley.
    7. Switched wood around to secure blade.
    8. Placed new Pulley on an tightened bolt.
    9. Reattached Pulley Cover.
    10. Reattached deck to mower.
    11. Lifted deck an reattached belt to deck.

    Bent pulley drive belt ate thru hydro fan

    I am A women so it was a little difficult with the fan had to use vice grips on bottom nut and socket wrench on top.. Used impact wrench on pulley much easier..

    WD 40 on bolt area, sat for a couple of days while trying to loosen it, had to use pipe wrench on shaft right under pulley and helper holding the deck steady. First of all remove deck from tractor. It took me a couple of days to get nut loose. Did not have access to aIr gun.
