    Just remove the front bolt and washer. Remove the broken pad and slide the new one on.

    original plastic pad broke

    1 - used allen wrench to remove retaining screw
    2 - disposed of old pad, old washer, old screw
    3 - used allen wrench to install new pad, new washer, new retaining screw

    I dropped the disc sander and it landed on the plastic backing pad. The backing pad broke.

    I removed the broken backing pad with an Allen wrench and then placed the new backing pad on the disc sander. I tightened the screw with the Allen wrench and it was fixed. The whole process took less than three minutes.

    Remove the screws from the housing, separated housing. Remove the worn brushes from the brush holders and replaced them with the new brushes, installed brushes and brush holders and assembled housing. I then installed the new pad and washer.
