The Wrench is part of an automatic tool changer on a CNC mill. when the spline socket falls off, you have to take the whole changer apart to put the socket back on.

The old retainer clip was very difficult to remove, there was no room to get anything under it, I wound up having to modify a snap ring pliers to get into the lit tle gap in the ring and open it to the point I could get an o-ring hook under it and work it off.
I was able to use the same modified pliers to open the new one to get it on.

I had to grind between the pins on the pliers to allow it to come closer together than normal and grind the outside of the pins flat, so the ring would stay on.
