This is an OEM brushroll agitator used in Panasonic vacuums. An agitator sits inside the main nozzle in the suction airflow. It is designed to spin, allowing the bristles to disturb the fibers of carpet and upholstery in order to release debris for a thorough clean. The belt, which spins it, sits on the end of the agitator that is free of bristles.
