This part is an OEM from the Kirby manufacturer. The speed switch lever is constructed of metal, and is made for use with several vacuum devices. The lever is fitted between the speed switch lever retainer and the speed switch lever cover. This part is designed for adjusting the vacuum speed. The speed switch lever is sold individually. A screwdriver is necessary in the removal and replacement.

I put the speed switch lever into the cover, then placed the plastic speed switch lever plastic holder on. Then lined up the speed lever to the lever switch within the cover. Aline the cover and screwed the cover not over tighten. Placed the vacuum head on and started the vacuum.
