1. Watched manufacturer (Dyson) video to make sure there was nothing surprising about repair. (They have short videos about common repairs on their web site.)
2. Removed extendible solid plastic pipe (the \"wand assembly\") from inside flexible hose by pressing release button and pulling it out.
3. Removed canister by pushing release button and pulling it up and forward.
4. Removed defective hose by pressing release lever at bottom front (behind the canister, when in place) and lifting it up and out.
5. Inserted new hose by pressing it down into base until it clicked into place.
6. Put canister back by pushing it down and back.
7. Replaced \"wand\" by placing it into hose while pushing release button.
Total time to repair - two minutes to watch the video, and then less time than it took to type this. It took longer to remove the protective wrapping on the new hose than to do the repair.

I accidentally sucked up a short dog leash. It got stuck in the wand, no one could get it out, so it made this horrid noise when trying to vacuum with the wand, plus it lost suction.

Dysons are fairly easy to fix, as are most sweeper, non-motor repairs, just have to use your brain and think it thru. Or if all else fails, go on youtube, I\'m sure someone has a post out there for just about any repair on anything!
