This is a complete Recoil Starter Assembly including the Plastic Housing, Pulley, Recoil Spring, Rope, Handle, Screws to attach the Assembly and a Metal Guard Plate. This assembly allows you to start the engine with a simple pull of a rope.

2) Put the new cover assy on and replace the four screws all done now see if it works.
3) Pull the rope and crank it up
Original recoil mechanism wore out.

B. Place the four screws in the holes in the new assembly.
C. Holding the unit level, place the spacer plate.
D. Put the new assembly in place, aligning the screws ... Read more with the holes in the unit. Note: there is one way the assembly goes in place.
E. Using an appropriate Torx driver, tighten the screws fully.
The unit is now ready to use.
The recoil spring inside the pull starter was broken after two summers of regular use.
