This shield assembly is a Troy-Bilt OEM part manufactured for use with grass trimmers. This plastic shield assembly protects the user from trimming debris. The blade assembly used to trim excess line is included with the shield assembly. The shield assembly requires four nuts and bolts to secure it to the lower shaft. The nuts and bolts are available separately, the shield assembly is sold individually.

1. Took 4 screws out,
2. Remove broken shield
3. Replace broken shield on shaft
4. Put the 4 screws back holding shield in place
Very simple replacement!
Removed old shield(4 screws) and old cutting head assembly(not an easy task). After you take the bump part of the cutter head assembly off, you slide the rest of it off of the shaft. Remove rest of the shaft and install new assembly. Most of the time was spent trying to remove old assembly. Installation was easy on both parts.

trim sheild had broken and trimmer head had to be replaced due to wear
The repair to the shield was done by removing 4 screws and replacing the new guard.
The repair to the trimmer head was done by removing the old head cover, bump button, spring, and spool holder, then replacing new parts in reverse order.
