Cap and compression spring were off. Put new compression spring on, spool of string and snapped new cap into place. After weeks of trying to buy local, no one could help me. Weedwacker was outdated, too old (2000). Used Google and found eReplacement.com. I\'m so excited they were able to help me.

The trimmer is over 20 years old and the spool cap was worn and the spring was broken. Quick and easy repair. The parts were correct and fit perfectly. Fairly quick shipping as well. Just press on the side tabs of the cap to remove it, remove the spool and place the new spring on top of it, then just snap the new cap right in. Thanks! - Phil

Removed the cap by pressing ion the sides tabs to release it from the spool housing, Then removed the old spool and spring. Before I did all of the removing of parts I put some replacement line on the new spool. Then I place the new spring in the new spool and let 4-5 inches of line out of the eyelet on the spool housing. Then lined up th e tabs of the new cap to the matching holes in the spool housing and press it in.
