This compression spring is an original part from the Toro manufacturer. Constructed of metal, the spring is compatible with many trimmer devices. This item is fitted into the trimmer drum, acting as the mechanism for the cutting line spool to move back in place. This part is sold individually. A screwdriver may be helpful in making the repair.

Spring replacement
You sent the wrong compression spring for my trimmer as listed in your on-line catalogue. Took the spring and my trimmer to a local repair shop and they affirmed that it was the wrong spring for the trimmer. Did not return it to you as the cost of original postage to me was high enough, but would have had to double the cost of postage for the return of the compression spring. Maybe I can use it for the bird feeder.

Remove old spool cap by depressing tabs, remove old spring and old spool. Replace spring and spool inside of spool housing, snap the spool cap back on.
I just followed the instructions to reassembled the trimmer. I\'m 74 and could understand the instructions very easily. The trimmers is working great!
I just put it back together as per instructions.
