Years ago this part always had the metal I-lets break out which caused the cutting string not to stay in place to complete the job. Now it seems the weak part of this piece is the round rubber that holds the part to the string disperser. I know you may think this is from the bump feature, but I don't use that feature because of the ware on this plastic round piece. It still wares and breaks and it is too small to glue back on.

1. Removed old head by pushing in tabs.
2. Pried head off with a screw driver.
3. Wound new cutter string onto the head.
4. Line up cutter string in the exit slot and over tabs.
5 Snap on the head until the locking tabs click into place.
Fairly straight forward. The only hard part was removing the knob and spring that releases the string when tapped on the ground. Had to pry the knob off the ridges of the housing. once off it was simple to snap onto the new housing.
Pulled off the cover, popped out the old bump knob, inserted the new knob, replaced the cover. I\'m whacking weeds again like it\'s a brand new trimmer!
