Original pawls were attached to plate with a flexible barb (which broke). New assembly used a screw to hold pawl. Much better design. I expect this part to now outlive the trimmer.

Remove recoil Starter, 2 screws. Place a piston stop in spark plug hole or a length of small diameter rope into cylinder to stop upward motion of piston, Remove 8 mm flanged nut, remove starter cup assy and or just replace spring in starter cup. Re-assemble.
