It is a genuine OEM sourced starter cup spring that is specially made for use with Husqvarna trimmers and edgers. This replacement part provides spring action for the starter cup, for correct location and use of this item make sure to check appropriate diagrams of your unit. Over time the spring may lose its tension and need a replacement for the starter to function as intended by the manufacturer. Note this durable metal spring is sold individually.

Pulled starter rope without engaging and turning the engine shaft.

1. Remove 2 torx screws holding the starter assembly housing.
2. Found manual rope starter assembly in good operating condition.
3. Remove spark plug, and inserted a short length of nylon rope in the combustion chamber.
4. Use a metric allen hex wrench and removed the coupling nut attaching starter cup assembly to the en gine shaft. The shaft turns until the rope stops the piston and the coupling can be loosened.
5. Remove the coupling nut and starter cup assembly from the shaft.
6. Replace the starter cup spring in the starter cup assembly.
7. Reverse above steps to assemble.

Remove recoil Starter, 2 screws. Place a piston stop in spark plug hole or a length of small diameter rope into cylinder to stop upward motion of piston, Remove 8 mm flanged nut, remove starter cup assy and or just replace spring in starter cup. Re-assemble.

1. Disassembled the edger.
2. Found the piston ring broken causing the engine to seize up.
3. Replaced the piston ring.
4. Reassembled the edger with the new starter cup spring. I broke the old spring with the motor seized up.
5. Started and used the edger.
