This manufacturer-sourced replacement part is specially designed for use with Homelite and Ryobi handheld trimmers. It is the backing flanged washer that helps to secure the blade. If the component is damaged or is missing, this will provide an identical replacement for the original flanged washer that was included with a new equipment. Keep in mind it is made of durable metal and is sold individually. You will need a wrench to remove and reattach the locknut which holds the blade in order to replace this washer.

Removed and replaced the gear head with a punch in the slot of the gear case then turning the gear head clockwise to remove did reverse to install

Placed flange washer in place, placed new edger blade in place, placed another washer in placed then tightened nut. Note on most lawn equipment but affixed in reverse from normal. No righty tighty - lefty loosely
