I followed the directions from the e-replacement parts video on echo trimmer driveshaft repair. Mine was actually easier, since I only had a throttle cable to detach. See the video!
The other difference from the video was I couldn\'t get the drive shaft to go in the last inch, and it wasn\'t going in by spinning the drive shaft (act ually a cable, really) so I spun the trimmer head while pushing on the driveshaft/cable, and that got it to go in.

Trimmer works great again.

Removed the trimmer head and the plastic guard. Then I removed what I would call the screw on dust shield. Removed the bearing assembly. Removed the broken flex shaft and the housing it was in. Then I disassembled the bearing assembly and replaced the shaft gear after greasing the bearings. reassembled and tested.

Took off the trimmer head, pulled out the broken piece, removed 2 bolts and removed curved shaft and with pliers removed other piece bof drive shaft. Then with hammer and punch started to move flexible liner. As soon as enough liner is exposed, pull liner out with pliers. Installation is just the opposite of removal.

I had a grommet, inserted fuel lines through holes in grommet inserted it in fuel tank that took care of gas leak. Replacing shaft and liner was straight forward, took bolts out of motor housing, pulled shaft tube from motor housing and removed bolts securing head to shaft tube, took string head off. I was than able to pull old shaft and shaft liner from tube and install new parts.
