This is an authentic OEM sourced starter assembly that is made for Echo handheld lawn and garden equipment. This is the starter assembly that is designed to pull start the engine. It includes a plastic shroud, starter pulley, starter spring, grip and the pull rope. Please note the hardware to secure this assembly is sold separately.

4 Allen wrench screws take old starter asy. off, put the new one on. easy. I had a Echo dealer, look at it , ordered a part 3 weeks went by, and still didn\'t have it. found your Company on the web. R & R\'d the entire Pull Starter Housing Assembly. Very easy, Much, much easier, and much cheaper, than trying to replace the broken rope!

1 Removed the necessary parts so that I could remove the rope starter assembly.
2 Screwed on the stripped part that goes on the shaft
3 Replaced the starter rope assembly insuring that the two new parts mashed when the rope
was pulled.
4 Replaced all other Removed parts..

I bought a new starter assembly kit and replaced the whole piece. The edger is 20 years old and it starts like a new edger!

Remove various screws to loosen plastic engine cover. Then remove four hex screws holding pull cord assembly and remove. Install new assembly and put back together in reverse. Very simply job and part fit perfect.
