Steering was loose and skipped teeth at times

Removed the gas tank for working space,then removed the dash and the shaft retainer to remove the steering wheel and shaft.
Replaced the gear and bushings and added the support plate that my early model did not have. This removed the play in the gear and allowed the steering shaft the fit tightly removing the looseness in the steeri ng ,when it was reassembled, it was better than new.

Repaired bushing on steering gear and general tuneup & changed the oil

Steering on lawn tractor would not turn the wheels

Started out removing steering shaft then the gear assembly and retainer plate then put the new parts back same order that was removed ending with greasing all parts fit perfect steers like new again

Steering parts wore out

Took off the mower deck
Jacked up the front of the mower
Unscrewed the steering wheel under the mower
Took off the Hex flanged bearing and the steering pinion
Put back on the nut that holds the steer wheel in place
Put the lawn more down from the jack
Put the mower deck back on
Make sure you take pictures of the work as you do it in case you forget how to put it back together. I sharpened my blades while I had the deck off.

Bushings were worn for steering mechanism

Using a 3/8 inch drive ratchet and a half inch socket remove retaining nuts pop out worn bushings and replace with new Bushings replaced nuts,working great.

Troy Bilt Super Bronco would not steer

Removed nut from bottom of steering rod, removed steering pinion gear. removed bracket from gas tank and moved it back out of the way, without disconnecting the lines, placed new bushing, steel this time instead of original plastic, in the slot for it; then I repositioned steering rod thru hole in bushing, installed steering pinion gear, washer and nut, and tightened until snug, and then set the gas tank back into place and secured it. It worked and the lawn tractor once again can be steered.

Steering gear stripped

Removed deck. Removed lower the bolt on shaft. Removed gas tank and bracket. Removed steering wheel Removed steer shaft and bushing. Reinstalled all parts in reverse.
