1. Removed cowl. Owners manual didn\'t say how to do it so found a video.
2. Laid snowblower on its side for easier access (Be sure gas level is low enough that it will not leak out of tank).
3. Removed the broken cable and replaced it with the new one. Very easy to access, and was able to install the new cable with no problem
... Read more. Used pliers and screwdriver to remove/install small lock washer that holds the bail spring hook on the auger clutch bail.
4. Noticed that the drive belt (original) was cracked in several places, so will order a new belt and install it before putting the cowl back on.
5. Started snowblower to check that it was operating properly.
1 Remove snowblower cover
2 remove spring from belt tensioner
3 undo end of cable from belt tensioner
4 remove clip from bail
5 connect cable end to belt tensioner
6 route cable through cable guide
7 re attach cable spring to bail and reinstall clip
8 measure spring length with bail in disengaged
... Read moreposition.
9 engage the bail
10 tighten cable until spring is 9/16\" longer when bail is engaged
11 re install cover
12 happy snowblowing
