The fill screw was stripped in the cover plate due to not reading the torque spec carefully and noting that it was in pound force inches vs pound force feet! Ugh!

Removed the original cover plate, taking out four bolts. Checked the condition of the gasket and while open, the level of the hypoid oil. Put the new cover plate on, fastening with the four bolts, tightened slowly in an \'x\' pattern. Put in the new self tapping screw w/washer, tightening until the washer had seated and then using a torque wrench to obtain the proper tightness.
