This is an authentic Hamilton Beach replacement part that has been sourced from the original manufacturer to be used with slow cookers. I made the mistake of having had the latches on the lid while cooking. Too much pressure built up and the glass shattered. (Luckily nothing got into the food and all I had to do was replace the lid). I LOVE this slow cooker - best one I own and I own 3 - I use this one the most. Please dont ever change it - the quality is perfection.
