This replacement lid is a genuine Hamilton Beach part. It is specially manufactured for use with slow cookers. This lid is used to cover the cooker. Only a replacement lid. The previous lid had a missing grommet for the temperature probe. Since it was missing, too much heat was released slowing the cooking process
