Chassis was broken, trimmer track on housing was broken, swivel frame would not hold shaver foil
N from Waterford, Virginia
- Difficulty Level:
- Difficult
- Total Repair Time:
- 1- 2 hours
- Tools:
- Screw drivers
1. Removed housing torx screws at bottom of shaver
2. Removed swivel frame by removing two torx screws
3. Removed two very tiny screws holding swivel body to frame; these were very difficult to remove and required a jewelers Phillips screw driver. Then removed swivel body and ... Read more the plastic moving parts as these were needed later, wrote down how these parts fit into the swivel body.
4. Removed old damaged chassis from housing; this was also very difficult as chassis was stuck to the inside surface of housing; did this slowly and carefully. Also removed old batteries from chassis.
5. Replaced old chassis with the new one (also purchased from eReplacementparts) into new housing after installing new NiMH batteries; chassis simply slides in...but it is a firm fit. The three electrical pins at the bottom should appear to be flush with the bottom of the housing.
6. Replace Swivel frame
7. Replace plastic moving parts in reverse order of removal; they are keyed so will only fit together in one way. Did not force fit incorrectly as the tiny parts could break. Had to orient brass cam on motor shaft correctly for parts to fit together.
8. Replaced swivel body with the tiny screws; this was very difficult because the miniature screws must go over the side spring clips and then tightened with a jewelers phillips screw driver.
9. Secured swivel frame and body using the two torx screws making certain not to over tighten.
10. Replaced cutter block and foil.
11. Tested after charging new batteries
12. Perfect...performs like a new shaver!!! Saved a lot of $$$ by repairing myself; otherwise, I would have had to spend 3 to 4 times as much on a new Braun shaver.
