The key holding gear to the arbor shaft broke, causing shaft to spin freely.
I removed the motor from the saw. I wasn\'t sure if the brushes would need replacing, so I pulled the motor apart and took the armature out. Brushes still good for a 20 year old saw. ... Read morehe key sheared on the shaft, it scared up the gear and shaft a good bit. For no more than they cost, it was easier to replace them. The time for repair would have been less, but I drink a lot of coffee.
