The bumper goes between the gear housing and the disc. This is a genuine part sourced directly from the manufacturer for use in saws made by Skil and Bosch. Keep in mind that this high-quality part is sold individually. It is made of a hard rubber and will need replacing if it breaks. A screwdriver may be necessary during the installation process.
Have parts delivered in a timely manner, I had to go out and purchase a new saw. Getting my parts would be quicker shipped to me on the back of a turtle.

Skilsaw model 77 had broken return spring on the blade guard and a worn cracked bumper, brushes were worn
I took the saw (Skillsaw 77) completely apart. The hardest part was getting the bearing assemblies off the main shafts, this is where the rubber mallet came in. Ordered the parts, then put the saw back together. All the new parts fit perfectly with the exception of the new brush caps. They were too big, so I ordered a couple smaller sizes

The bumper, washer and screw...was no big deal to put on. Slide the rubber bumper over the aluminum nub, set the washer on the top, put the screw in, and it was done...as they say...Easy Pee-sey....

Its all back up fixed and working. The other 2 items I got was the handle (plastic) and a plastic cover for the front of the shroud. The handles was the hardest to put on, was nervous I might cross thread the little screws, but was able to tweak the handle enough to get them started
Remove the blade. Unscrew the screw and remove the metal disc and worn rubber bumper.
Replace with new bumper, metal disc and screw. Put the blade back on. Easy-peasy.
