"This is a Makita OEM flywheel. The flywheel provides momentum to power the chain. If an improper tool is used to remove the flywheel or to hold it while removing the clutch, it could lead to the flywheel bursting. Sometimes it might seem like the flywheel is stuck when it is actually the chainsaw's built-in safety feature locking the chain in place. Before taking apart your chainsaw make sure the brake is disengaged. To access the flywheel, remove the clutch cover from the saw, then remove the guide bar and chain. Now remove the spark plug by unscrewing it with a socket wrench, and this should expose the flywheel. The flywheel can be removed with an appropriately sized socket wrench. Always refer to your model's instruction manual for more detailed instructions and troubleshooting advice. "
