This is an original manufacturer's part by Makita. The controller allows you to control the speed of the chainsaw. If the controller is malfunctioning, it might not turn on, it might only run at one speed, could fluctuate in speed or it might bog down. If you suspect that the controller is faulty, it should be replaced immediately.
