"This is an original OEM part for your chainsaw. It is black in color. The front hand guard is part of the chain's brake system. By pushing the handguard forward, it initiates the chain brake, which will bring the chain to a halt. The handguard works in conjunction with the front handle to initiate the chain brake in case kickback was to occur. It is imperative that you examine the handguard and test the chain brake frequently to avoid a serious accident. If the handguard is broken, cracked, or not attached correctly to the saw, it must be repaired before the saw can be safely used. "
