This is an authentic Makita replacement part manufactured for use with power cutter saws. This metal spring is used within the recoil starter assembly. It is used to provide tension to retract the starter rope after it has been pulled to start the saw. The rewind spring goes through wear every time the saw is started and can become bent if it disconnects from the starter pulley. The rewind spring is available as an individual part.
