This original Makita hood includes the insert and rubber buffer. The hood is the plastic housing that covers and protects the air filter. The hood further protects the air filter from encountering large debris. This part is generally replaced because of an accident, such as dropping it or something hitting it causing it to bend or crack. To remove the hood, disengage the hood clips with a combination tool and remove the hood.
