"This is a genuine Makita fleece filter designed for your chainsaw. It is sold separately. To access the filter, unscrew the hook lock by turning it counterclockwise and remove the hood. Push up the combination switch into the choke position to stop debris from getting into the carburetor. Pull the air filter up and out. Always cover the intake opening with a clean cloth to stop any dust or dirt from getting into the carburetor. Insert the new filter, push down the combination switch and press the throttle all the way down one time to deactivate the throttle lock. Put the hood back on by positioning the two holders into the slots. Screw the hood lock back by turning clockwise to tighten. The air filter should be cleaned regularly especially when working in particularly dusty environments. If the air filter is damaged in anyway or if by cleaning it doesn't improve performance, replace it immediately. Large pieces of debris can harm the engine. "
