This is a genuine Makita replacement part manufactured for polishers. The controller changes the voltage to the armature that will adjust the speed of the polisher. The user can adjust the controller using a dial which is sold separately, the controller is sold individually.
I took about the tool and changed the switch and speed control. But I found that it had the same problem. so I took out the brushes and found out one was not contacting the Stator. so I took the rest of the tool apart and cleaned the copper contact and made sure the brushes fit properly.
